02 Optic Radiation

The optic system is a relatively large white matter network that transmits visual information from the retina to the visual cortex in the occipital lobe. In this step, you model the lateral geniculate nuclei (LGN) from the optic chiasm (yellow), followed by the optic radiation towards the visual cortex.

  • Lateral Geniculate Nuclei (LGN) (blue): form two spheres and place them laterally to both thalami, connecting the yellow optic tract to the LGN.
  • Optic Radiation (white): model an elongated ‘triangle’ from white clay and place the tip of the ‘triangle’ against the LGN, pressing the clay firmly against the lateral ventricle and calcar avis.
