ASSESSMENT WITH SELF DIRECTED LEARNING

You determine how you complete the course. You write a personalised proposition for a final product, substantiated with a rubric and an explanation about the formulated assessment criteria.

Assessment design

Students can individually choose the product they want to finish the course with. At the beginning of the course, the lecturer will provide several examples. Every student then has to create a personalized proposal. It could be an online magazine, infographic, Instagram story, short story, picture book, product design, or something else.

Because a standardized assessment form would not work in this case, students have to design their own assessment form under supervision. This form would be tailored for the specific character of their self-chosen final product. Students will thus be challenged to think about exam and assessment criteria relating to their own learning process.

Create an online assessment

Students create a collection of Forms in their own Brightspace ePortfolio. They then share these with their lecturer to evaluate. The Forms have been created by the lecturer beforehand and determine what is the minimum amount of information required for a product. This includes the description of the own assessment criteria and the own assessment. The student uses these Forms in a Presentation. They also connect the general Rubric designed by the lecturer to this Presentation. The entire product will be shared with the lecturer, who can now easily assess the submitted product as a whole.
