Your position in a one-pager

You will have half a day to work on your specific question. You will collect source materials to substantiate your work and summarize your arguments on 1 A4 paper.

Design of the assessment

The assessment is a take-home exam. Every student will be assigned their own date and they have to retrieve a dilemma or problem from a newspaper published on their assigned date and relate it to the course. Once they have chosen, they have to create a theorem, collect additional literature and other source materials to formulate a number of arguments in favor and against the theorem. The students will choose a point of view and use the arguments to strengthen their position.

For the statement, the sources, the arguments, and the position there will be a 1 A4-page format ready. Students can add any used sources as an attachment. The lecturer will assess the format and scan the attachment to assess the argumentation.

Creating an online assessment

This assessment can be offered in Brightspace by working with a conditional release. With this conditional release, the students will receive their at-home assignment at a specific moment. The submission slot for the assignment will disappear after the deadline.
