Publication of interviews with lecturers about motivational work methods

In educational innovation, the focus is more often than not on the latest thing. Even though trends and new developments are certainly important to keep up with, there is also a large amount of existing innovation that is often forgotten.

In 2018, when our team first started working university-wide, we decided that our first project would be to collect examples of Radboud University lecturers that provide incredible education. Lecturers that succeed in motivating students to work to finish the course with an end result to be proud of. Inspiring education that is often hidden behind the doors of a lecture hall and a small text in the study guide.

We asked around at all faculties to find examples of these lecturers and their incredible education. Which lecturers should we talk to? Who stands out because they have touched their students with their education? We chose fourteen lecturers from the list that was created with these questions. The only criteria was that every faculty should be represented.

This led to fourteen very special meetings in which the lecturers were extensively interviewed about their manner of teaching. We have shared their stories in the book Inspiring Education. We added our own interpretation to every story to share which elements stood out to us. The elements that we believe make their form of education so successful.

The book Inspiring Education was distributed to every lecturer from Radboud University and Radboud university medical centre in 2018 and it received many positive reactions.
